Local designer returns to Project Runway

Local fashion designer Valerie Mayen is no stranger to the Project Runway stage. She competed on season eight of the fashion design competition, where she finished seventh of 17 designers. Now, she'll be appearing on season five of Project Runway All Stars, where she will be up against other Project Runway alumni from various seasons.

Jennifer Marks has been in the fashion business as a boutique owner and a stylist for more than 20 years, and now she's bringing her style sense to Northeast Ohio with her boutique, Makers by J. Marks, which opened in Tremont in November.

Cleveland-based TaShawna Jackson is a third-generation crocheter, following a tradition set by her mother and grandmother. Today, she uses crochet as a medium not only for scarves and accessories, but also ready-to-wear pieces. She first showed her work at last fall's Great Lakes Fashion Week accessories event and will be showing her work again at Great Lakes Fashion Week's Spring 2014 Couture Show.
