‘Tis the season to shine

It’s that time of year again: time for cold-weather cheer and endless parties. Time for fashionistas to look even more stylish and trendy than usual. Hair, make-up and nail polish are just as important as the outfits worn. Follow these trends to make sure your style is spot-on.

Hair
The Hair Book, distributed at Regis Salons in Great Northern Mall, offers six style suggestions for holiday festivities:
1. Curled ends pinned back for a playful look
2. Hair pulled back in a loose ponytail or bun
3. High teased hair is a popular hair trend
4. Modernize a classic French twist with a headband or use a little ribbon
5. Sleek ballerina bun
6. Sideways bun

Makeup
Makeup is all about glam of vibrant lips and smoky or bright eyes.

Christine, a makeup artist at Sephora, said, "Glam is big this year for holiday party makeup. Smoky eyes for night is a definite and gold shadows for eyes. Plum is huge for eyes."

She added, "Red lips ... is a classic and will never go out of style."

Red is the go-to color for lips and shades vary from deep to orange rubies. One DIY beauty tip is to use liner to prefect the vibrant red. Try MAC Pro Longwear Extended Play (A50) with Brick liner or Revlon Matte Lipstick Really Red.

Smoky eyes can be worn from work day to holiday party at night. Use BareMinerals Tutorials Eye Lining Kit, found at Sephora, to perfect smokey eyes.

Use pale or metallic colors for amazing bright eyes. Almay Intense I-color powder shadows are great because you can buy the trio shades based on your eye color. They blend on easy and last all day.

Nails
Celebrities have been painting eight nails in one shade and than two nails with a metallic shade. Metallic is a huge trend and is currently considered the new neutral. The two-tone polish with metallics is fun and festive for holiday parties.

The season is all about darker shades and glam. Remember not to wear all makeup trends at once because you will be a fashion don’t, but if worn alone you will shine like a star.
