Zafi Ahmed is an Ohio native who recently moved back from New York City. During the day, she teaches art at Massillon Middle School and by night, she's a fashion and lifestyle blogger. She chatted with us recently about blogging, finding inspiration and moving back to Ohio. See what she had to say:
How would you describe your personal style?
I would say my style depends on the day, because I just love dressing up! But I would say classic silhouettes mixed in with a balance between edge and glamour.
What is the best piece of style advice you've ever received?
My advice comes from a combination of people, but mostly to be yourself. Wear what makes you feel good, and have fun!
What made you decide to start blogging?
Toward the end of college, I was looking for something else that was fun and creative to do. I was already following a few fashion bloggers and thought it was so cool, and had wanted to do it for a while. Just as I was about to student teach, I was purchasing a lot of clothes for work. Then I realized it would be fun to document my outfits and thought it was perfect timing.
What advice would you give to someone just starting a lifestyle or fashion blog?
I would advise someone to be themselves. In a time when there are so many influencers and bloggers, it important to find your voice and be true to yourself.
Where do you find inspiration for your posts?
I find inspiration everywhere! Of course, Instagram and Pinterest. I love gaining ideas from magazines. My favorite is being inspired by my fellow creative friends, family and my students. The people in my life have been great to chat and bounce ideas off of, through conversations and creating creative sparks. Good energy fuels me to create.
How will your blog change since moving back to Northeast Ohio from New York?
Getting back into the swing of things of balancing my full-time job as an art teacher has been difficult with balancing my blog. With moving back brings a slower pace of life, allowing me to do more. The plan is to not only feature outfit posts, but more photo, art and lifestyle. There is for sure more to come!
